Marie Theiss
Maierhofer obtained her education at Navarro ISD. After graduation she
received an Associates Degree at Concordia Lutheran College in Austin
followed by a Bachelor of Science in Education Administration with a major
in Secondary Business Education and a minor in Physical education at
Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. A masters degree followed
in Education (Mid-Management Administration PK-12). She then received
her Career and Technology Office Administration Approval in 2001, and
Office Education Certification (6-12) in 2004.
Her teaching experience began 32 years ago at Stockdale ISD. Twenty-five
years were spent teaching business classes, sponsoring senior plays,
working concession stands, coaching junior & high school sports,
sponsoring cheerleading & spirit team, advising UIL one act plays,
computer applications, typing, shorthand, and journalism writing. After
receiving her mid-management degree, she was promoted to principal for two
years at the Elementary and High school. She decided was made to move
back into the classroom at Floresville. For the past seven years she has
been working as a teacher. The last three years she has been the
Coordinator of the Career and Technology Department along with teaching
business classes. She lives in Seguin with her husband, Pete. They have
two married children, Wade and Wendy and one grandchild, Tristan
Garcia. Outside of teaching, she enjoys keeping a beautiful yard, playing
volleyball, teaching Sunday school, and enjoying life with family.
Teaching is a continuous learning experience with rewarding results.
Students are the number one factor in our education experience. When you
see a child’s faces light up and they share the fact that they understand
and can apply what they have learned is the ultimate payoff for teachers.
Student--teacher interaction and classroom engagement are the factors that
motivate a learning experience. Helping a child uncover their talent and
obtain a future career is also important. Floresville teachers leave a
positive impression on students and help them develop a rewarding future.
Marie is proud to be the high school teachers as the teacher of the year
representative. Education is a continuous cycle of teaching and
learning. Every day is different then the next one. In the end the
rewards all rest on the contributions the students will make to society.
After they leave our doors, a student will become the teachers of tomorrow
either in life or in the classroom. |
