I graduated from the University of Texas in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, in May of 1999.  That same year I was hired to teach science at the Floresville Disciplinary Alternative Education Program.  I teach all of the science courses, K-12, as well as several ag. science and art elective courses.  Throughout my nine years with the Floresville DAEP, I have watched our campus grow with the addition of many new programs.  I have had the opportunity and truly enjoyed the experience of teaching night school at our JJAEP Boot Camp and our Choice program.  My favorite addition to our campus has been our service learning, or STARS, program.  I have enjoyed the many resources and opportunities this program has brought to our campus and particularly to my classroom.  Our newest addition, of four years, is our Tiger Cub Cottage Daycare.  This program was added just in time, as I was expecting my second child during its planning stage; which leads me into what I do when I am not Mrs. Hendrickson, science teacher at the DAEP.

When I am not teaching, my world is consumed by my family.  I have three amazing children;  Darren 6 years old, Jaelyn 4 years old and Alyssa 8 months old.  Rodney, my husband of almost nine years, and I love to take the family to Choke Canyon Lake to fish and camp.  We pack an ice chest, strap the kids in their lifejackets (with Barbie and Sponge Bob fishing poles in tote) and take the boat out to our favorite fishing spot.  When we are not relaxing at the lake, we enjoy soccer, T-ball, playing in the back yard, tending to our garden and battling it out with a competitive, boys versus girls, family night of Wii Sports.

I am most proud of my career choice when my son tells his friends at school and his teachers, “My Mom is a teacher too!”  I realize the importance of my job and the influence I have on my students.  I can say without hesitation, that I am proud of my campus.  I am proud of each one of our programs and what we do for students.  I come back year after year because I believe in our programs and in our students.
