|
Carole Aktines
is a teacher at Floresville Middle School. She
is a native of Floresville. Carole graduated from Floresville High School
in 1973 and from St. Mary’s University in 1976 with a degree in Elementary
Education.
She began her teaching career in San Antonio in the Northeast Independent
School District. Carole taught in San Antonio for 9 nine years before
moving her teaching career here to Floresville.
Carole started by teaching second grade in Floresville. She then moved to
the middle school setting where she has remained teaching math to 6th,
7th and 8th graders. She has served as a Mentor
teacher to new teachers for many years in the district in cooperation with
OLLU. Carole currently serves as the math lead teacher; she does an
excellent job of taking care of the teachers in her department. She is also
chairperson for the Awards ceremony committee and does a wonderful job in
preparing for the ceremony. Carole spends countless hours organizing and
managing the before school tutoring program at the middle school. She has
been very active in the integration of technology in the classroom locally
as well as presenting at the state and national level.
Carole participates in the community as a member of the Wilson County Baked
Food Show Committee. She shows support for her community each year by
selling peanuts and making peanut brittle for local charities.
In her spare time, Carole enjoys going to auctions with her husband, Jim.
She also enjoys spending time with her three children, George, Jamie and
Kelly. If Carole is not busy with her husband or three kids, she likes to
relax and do things that make her happy. Cooking, reading, and working
crossword puzzles are some of Carole’s hobbies.
Carole would like this opportunity to thank her fellow educators for
bestowing the honor of Floresville Middle School Teacher of the Year. |
