Science Club Constitution

 

Article I: The Science Club purpose shall be to foster awareness of scientific issues to students, faculty, and the community, as well as to participate in and lead environmental efforts at school and in the community.

Article II: Any student may join the FMS Science Club, in order to be deemed a voting member and to be eligible for field trips; the individual must attend 85% of the general meetings. Students must be passing all classes and on the second ISS infraction the student will be removed from the Science club. Any student suspended will be automatically removed from the Science Club.

Article III: The club shall be coordinated by an Executive Committee consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Publicist. The rank of the executive Committee shall be as follows:

President, Vice President, Secretary, Publicist 

The President shall be responsible for conducting meetings, coordinating a fundraiser, fieldtrips, overseeing an environmental effort to support the community and oversee projects. The President will also assist the Sponsors with all duties of the club.

 The Vice President shall assume the role of President at the meetings at which the President does not attend. In addition, the Vice President shall be responsible for confirming that all club activities comply with FMS school rules.

 The Secretary shall be responsible for taking minutes, maintaining membership list, keeping a record of meeting attendance and working with the Publicist to provide club members with information about club activities and a club calendar.

 The Publicist shall be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the club’s bulletin board, oversee sign making, working with the Secretary. The Publicist shall  maintain and update the FMS Science Club Web page and keep a photo journal of all club activities.

Article IV: Election of the Executive Committee shall be held near the end of each academic year. Every attempt must be made by the Executive Committee to ensure that all voting members are notified about the vote at least one week in advance.  

Article V: Any officer may be impeached if he or she is not performing his or her designated tasks. Before any formal discussion of impeachment, the officer must be informed of concerns about his or her performance.

Article VI: Any member may propose a policy to the club by drafting a formally written proposal that outlines all details of the policy, and then presenting it to the club at a general meeting. After the proposal has been presented, a vote will be held to decide whether or not to enact the proposal. The club Sponsor retains the right to overrule a policy, or a vote for rejection of a policy if the policy or lack there of is not in compliance with FMS school rules.
