About the Library
The library is open from 8:15 until 4:15 on school days except for days the teachers have faculty meetings. Students may come in to read quietly or study.
Students must have their picture ID in order to check out a book.
Students may check out no more than two books at a time. Books are due back in two weeks, but students may come back for new books any time as long as they have permission from their teacher.
Fines are $.05 per day, but students have a "grace period" of two days before the fine actually begins. (That means you have two weeks plus two days to return your book before the fine starts.) Once the fine reaches $.25 students may not check out books until that has been cleared.
Books that are lost, stolen, or damaged while in the possession of a student must be paid for by the student.
Reading teachers use the Accelerated Reader program. Library books that have AR tests are identified by colored dots on the spines of the books and labels inside the books indicating the reading level and point value. Students may also search the library collection by reading level.
Suggested reading lists are available on the FMS Library webpage and include short summaries.
