FOLK DANCING ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
This semester we will be dancing folk dances from America. We invite everyone to come and dance with on on Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the Elementary Servatorium. We will be dancing: 1. "The Little Shoemaker" - A novelty double circle dance from the U.S.A. 2. "Galapede" - A dance from New England performed in Longways Sets. 3. "Black Joke" - Another New England dance performed in a Sicilian Circle. Please come out and enjoy the fun! Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes. Last semester in the music classes, we have been learning a variety of folk dances from around the world. We had our first all school folk dance night on Thursday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the Elementary Servatorium. We danced: 1. Agadu - An easy circle dance by an Israeli choreographer. 2. Baztnago Esku-Dantza - A challenging clapping dance of Basque people, who are located in the mountains between Spain and France. 3. Seljancica - A circle dance of the Croatian people Cigancica - A line dance of the Serbian people. All of the dances were taken from Sanna Longden's CD No. 1, Folk Dance Music for Kids and Teachers.
