What is my child learning in
music class?
All grades will be learning the
same folk dances.
All grades will learn to play the
barred instruments.
All grades will learn to sing
American and Texas patriotic songs.
Fifth:
We will continue playing the recorder. The recorder is
a wind blown instrument that used to be made of wood. The recorders we use
today are made of plastic. Playing the recorder helps the students develop
their hand eye coordination, experience creating music in a different way,
and prepares anyone interested in joining band.
We will also continue to develop our
music vocabulary with music terms, rhythms, and melodies. We will also
continue to read and write music on the staff.
Later this year, we will try something new. Creating our
own original music.
Fourth:
Fourth Grade is when we begin playing the
recorders. In Third grade we began learning how to read and write music.
In Fourth grade we take it a step further by adding the recorder. We will
continue to read and write on the staff and learn new music terms,
rhythms, and melodies while we also learn to play the recorder. There will
not be a musical program for fourth grade this year.
Third Grade: Third Grade
is when we lay the foundation for reading and writing music. At the moment,
the students are learning several songs and games while reviewing simple
concepts: beat and rhythm. We will teach them to read and write on the music
staff and different music terms.
In the spring we will be performing a
third grade program about the solar system.
