Diessa

By Casandra R.

I am a new cub in our community. We live near cactus, lots of bushes, and we travel in groups of 3 or 4.   I’m expected to get most of the food and carry on the family.  Sometimes we get low on food, and only have a small bit of rabbits, birds, lizards, or rats and other times we have all of it. We were doing ok but just recently somebody's been taking our food, so I am going to catch the thief, for it's my job. If you were wondering, my name is Diessa. I am usually made fun of, but after I catch the thieving  thief, nobody will make fun of me.

Tomorrow, I will start.  I have no idea what the animal is.  Maybe it's some kind of rat, a reptile, or even a big bird. Whatever it is I'll get it, even if it's twice the size as me. Well I have to go to sleep so good night...

Good morning mom! "So, today you are going to catch the thief," said Mom.

"Yup, today I am going to catch  him or maybe her whatever or whoever. I'm going to catch the thief."

Hey, what's that over there? It's not you, it's not dad, he's sleeping, and it's of course not me, so who could it be? Thieving thief!  I run and I catch him so he falls over. Somebody brings me a rope. I tie him up and feed him to the Hawk named Fufu. Before I feed him to Fufu he asks me how I became such a good hunter. I said this:

"We are good hunters because of our large ears, sharp eyes and keen sense of smell."  Then of course I gave him away. He was a dingo!
