FES Mock Presidential Election 2000

On Tuesday, November 7, 2000, students at Floresville Elementary School participated in a mock Presidential election.

They filled out a voter registration card which they had to get stamped before they could get a ballot.

Each student voted in the privacy of a "voting booth", folded their ballots and put them in the official, although retired, ballot boxes.

Students from Mrs. Berger's G/T classes were poll watchers, election judges, and vote counters.

We'd like to thank Howard Berger for purchasing the registration cards, printed by the Chronicle Journal, and our county clerk for the loan of the ballot boxes.

974 students cast their ballots (out of a student population of just over 1,000).

The results of our election were:

Gov. George W. Bush:   624
Vice-President Al Gore:  350

Thanks to all who participated.
