Texas Rangers
by Nicki B.

The Texas Rangers are an unique surviving link to the old west and one of the most modern and respected law enforcement agencies in the world.  Cowboy hats and boots exist side by side with the new technology of today.  The Texas Rangers were the first law enforcement group in Texas to act for the common defense.  In Wilson County there were many Texas Rangers and some of them played a big part in Texas history.  For example, the Brady Brothers were born in Wilson County and served here until they died. They did much for Texas like protecting the people from bandits and other criminals.  There are also many, many other Texas Rangers that did the same and then some for Texas.  The Texas Rangers are divided into groups and they are named after the letters of the alphabet. If a college graduate with the proper education applies to be a Texas Ranger, they get assigned to one of the group such as A, B, C and so on.
