1. 1846 - They acted as scouts and spies for the American Army.
2. 1874 - They cleared the borders of Texas of the threat of Indians.
3. 1877 - They captured Sam Bass who was an outlaw who robbed a train of $10,000.00 in cash.
4. 1893 - They worked looking for cattle and horse thieves.
5. 1918 - They worked protecting the oil fields and looking for illegal beer and alcohol.
6. 1934 - Captain Frank Hamer (of Wilson county) shoots Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker on May 23 after a long chase.
7. 1935 - The Department of Public Safety takes control over the Texas Rangers. Now you have to be a police officer before you can be a Texas Ranger.
8. 1949 - Texas Rangers get their first airplane.
9. 1976 - Official State Hall of Fame for Texas Rangers dedicated in Waco, Texas.
10. 1998 - 175th anniversary.
11. 1999 - Investigation by Ranger Sergeants Drew Carter and Brian Taylor of "A" Company led to the capture of Angel Maturino Resendez.
