Arcadia Theatre

Report From an Owner of the Past
by Diamond

The Arcadia Theatre was built in Floresville, Texas. Back when blacks and whites were still separated, blacks had to use a back entrance and not the front but whites could come in the front door. Blacks had to sit in the balcony. Whites sat on the bottom level. The seats were nice and neat, just like they are now. The man I interviewed was Reagan Dzuik who gave me the information you are reading. Snow White showed at the Arcadia when that movie was first released.  Pinocchio, Gone With the Wind and others were shown. The Arcadia Theatre is more than 75 years old! Child admission was 5 cents; adults were 75 cents.  The people who worked there were the family of Reagan Dzuik. They served snacks a long time ago, just like they do now. Also, when the theatre was abandoned, a rumor was going around that it was haunted! I don't believe it, but others did. Finally, after many years, the Arcadia Theatre reopened.
