The Alum Report

My grandmother and grandfather Jones live in an old schoolhouse in Stockdale. It was called the Alum schoolhouse, where most of the children in Stockdale used to attend school.

The Alum school was located on a small piece of land out in the country before there were any schools in town.  They named it the Alum school because of the alum water, which is a natural type of water  found in that area.  The Alum school originally had three rooms and a hallway. There were two classrooms on one side and an auditorium on the other side. The women's restroom was a small building that was painted red. The men's restroom was out in the back field; it was a concrete cylinder buried in the ground half-way.

Some time after the original school was built, it burned  down for some unknown reason. After a short period of time the school was rebuilt and time went on. Then one day someone in city hall decided to build a new school in town. After that fewer and fewer people went to the Alum school until it was finally shut down. Then after a series of buying and selling, it came into possession of my grandmother and grandfather who still live in it today.
