Meet Board Member  Rachel Bonnie Peña

About Mrs. Peña: Rachel has worked in the banking industry for 30 years, 28 of those at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, San Antonio office.  She joined the Federal Reserve in September of 1980.  During her tenure, she has worked in Administration, Customer Support, Cash Fiscal Agency, Payments Mechanism and Economics & Public Affairs.  In her current role as Public Affairs Representative, she organizes articles for Bank publications, coordinates conferences, forums and special events, and assists in the promotion of economic education.  She also manages the Bank tour program and Economic Education Library.  Rachel, her husband René, and their son René Angel are all life long residents of Floresville and graduates of Floresville High School.
Reason for being a board member:  
“I am a product and an advocate of the public school system.  FISD is a competitive and progressive school district with a current enrollment of 3689 students.  The district experiences an average growth rate of 3% per year.  I am committed in making sure that our school district offers a quality education to all students and that it provides a safe and challenging learning environment.”
Community Involvement:
 Member & pianist of "El Mesias" United Methodist Church, Floresville, Board of Director – Consolata Healthcare Foundation, Treasurer - Beta Alpha Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Community Supervision and Corrections Department Council (81st and 218th Judicial District), Mentor - Robert B. Green Elementary, San Antonio, Texas Council on Economic Education, KLRN Blazing Gavels Auction, PBS Network, St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home, Komen Race for the Cure, United Way of San Antonio and Floresville Independent School District Board of Trustee.
