Mrs. Calhoun has done an excellent job incorporating technology into her lessons.  She taught a wonderful dinosaur unit in the fall which the students loved.  Recently, she worked on a unit involving voting.  She included not only her students, but the entire campus AND community.  Ms. Calhoun definitely deserves a high five for her efforts!

Mrs. Cordes, one of our para-professionals brought calendars from a Christmas job.  The calendars were going to be thrown away until she suggested bringing them to school with her.  She allowed the teachers to pick and choose from the hundreds of calendars.  Here is what one teacher shared:

Thank you so much for sharing the calendars with us.  I wanted to share a success story with you.  One of my students does not like to read and has extreme difficulty with fluency.  His grandmother tells me daily that it is a fight to get him to read his story of the week.  I told her to let him read the story once and then he could choose what to read for the rest of the week.  They were still having problems when you brought the calendars.  When I was looking through all of the calendars, I came across a desktop calendar with a NASCAR theme.  This student absolutely LOVES NASCAR.  So I picked it up and gave it to his grandma.  I told her to have him read the captions under the pictures.  He was so happy and he read that calendar over and over.  He brought me the calendar the next day and read a caption for me.  His fluency was outstanding and his confidence had had a major boost!  When grandma picked him up that day, she teared up and thanked me so much for doing this for him.  Again, thank you for helping me make a connection for my student.  Great job!

I like the way our P.E. teacher, Mr. Hosek tells stories to the kids after they are lined up.  He also plays his guitar and sings with them.  The kids all love the music in PE.

I would like to brag on Dawn Freeman for doing such a great job on producing all the wonderful certificates.  The students, parents and teachers are so proud of the certificates students receive for citizenship, perfect attendance, honor roll and principal awards.  Not to mention she also maintains the attendance chart in the cafeteria and the gold stars.  All of these recognitions would not be possible without her.
