What was everyone talking about in 2006-07? Second graders at Floresville Primary School took on a special project to promote the “Six Pillars” of good character from the “Character Counts” Character Education Program. Throughout the 06-07 school year, all children at the Primary School were learning about and practicing the Six Pillars of Respect, Caring, Good Citizenship, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, and Fairness. The second graders were asked to describe what each character trait meant to them by creating a story and drawing a picture. The following WebPages display original drawings and stories of what the Six Pillars meant to each second grader. The writing of the story was integrated into the Language Arts curriculum where punctuation, grammar, spelling, and editing took place. The second graders worked very hard to put this project together; we are very proud of them and their teachers who have aided in understanding the Six Pillars.
Sincerely, Note: Only the work of second graders whose parent or guardian signed the special permission form could be electronically published. Thank you all second grade teachers for your participation. Thank you to Mr. Villanueva for allowing us to do this project. Thank you to the parents who have allowed their child's work to be published. Special thanks to Mrs. Kimberly Hineman for her technical skills and work in getting this on the web. |
