Mike Haag is an 18-year educator, who resides in Floresville and been teaching English at Floresville High School since 2001.

He received his bachelor's of arts degree in communications and journalism and a minor in English and literature at the University of the Incarnate Word.

Haag grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Roosevelt High School.  At Roosevelt, Haag was a member or the yearbook and newspaper staff.  He was the photography editor and sports editor his senior year.

At Incarnate Word, he wrote for the university newspaper, The Logos and worked in the public relations office as the sports information director from 1986 to 1989.

Haag's professional experience includes photography, newspaper and yearbook production, graphic design, web page design, advertising, promotions, marketing and extensive training in oral and written communications.

Haag published and worked as a high school yearbook and newspaper adviser for 11 years.  During that time, his yearbooks won several state-wide awards.  He has also won several educational awards and has been named four times to Who's Who Among American Teachers.

Haag also works at the San Antonio Express-News and currently writes a motorsports column that appears on Fridays in the sports section on MYSA.com.  During his 20-year career with the Express-News, Haag has covered local, area and national motorsports, along with high school and college sports.  He has also done freelance writing and photography for the Associated Press wire service and has had articles published in many Texas newspapers, including the Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle and Austin American Statesman.

He also can be heard weekly on Track Smack on ESPN 1250 AM The Zone, where he co-hosts a motorsports radio show with Dawn Murphy and Chip DuBose from 8-10 a.m. every Saturday morning during the racing season.

Haag is married to Dixie Haag, who also teaches English at Floresville High School.  They have two children, Courtenay (10) and Michael Joseph (5).
