Skills USA is a national organization that serves more than 280,000 high school and college students and professional members enrolled in training programs in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. Skills USA has more than a quarter million student members annually, organized into 13,000 chapters and 54 state and territorial associations. Skills USA prepares students by providing quality education experiences in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills. It emphasizes total quality at work high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of work. The Skills USA programs include local, state and national competition in which students demonstrate occupational leadership skills and helps to establish industry standards for job skill training in the classroom. The FHS Welding in Austin and Graphic Communications participated in the District 11 Leadership Conference . These students will compete in the State competition to be held in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 3 - 5, 2008. Welding advisors are Clifton Rogers and Charlie Dylla. The graphic communications advisor is Debbie Stiefer. |
