The 2007-2008 Floresville High School Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheerleaders/Mascots recently went to the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp held at Texas A&M University from June 22-25, 2007 The FHS Junior Varsity squad received three red ribbons for outstanding evaluations and two gold ribbons for superior performances. They also brought home a superior trophy for their hard work during camp. The FHS Varsity squad received three blue ribbons for excellent evaluations and two gold ribbons for superior performances. They also brought home a superior trophy for their hard work during camp. The Varsity also received the highest spirit award during camp which is the Banana award. The banana award is a tradition with UCA. This award is given to the most spirited, courteous and best team during camp. Each day the banana is given out and then at the end of camp one team gets to take it home. The FHS Mascots received the Cheer Camp Champ award for being the Best Mascots at camp. This award was voted on by all the mascots and staff that were at the camp. This award is a prestigious award based on their performance and sportsmanship all week. They each received three blue ribbons for excellent evaluations and two gold ribbons for their superior skits. FHS is also honored to have four UCA All-Stars. Kaylin Hubbert and Clarissa Orth were chosen as UCA Cheer All-Stars which qualifies them for a trip and performance in London, England. Thomas Abbott and Thalia Hernandez were chosen as UCA Mascot All-Stars which qualifies them for a trip and performance in Orlando, Florida at the Capital One Bowl over New Year’s week. The Cheerleaders and Mascots have been busy with community projects, they participated in the Dixie Flag campaign to send much needed supplies to our troops in Iraq. They participate in the local Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. They also recently held the Summer Little Cheer/Dance camp, where over 60 little cheerleaders and dancers attend the camp! Look for their performance at the first home football game, August 31, 2007. The FHS Cheerleaders and Mascots hope to see everyone out at all the athletic games this year to cheer on our Tigers and Jaguars to VICTORY!!! |
