High School Bid Awarded

FISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to award the bid to construct Phase IB of our high school project to Koontz-McCombs construction. The winning bid was $29, 983,582.
While this is a great deal of money, it is over a million dollars less than our projected budget for this phase. Construction for Phase IB of the main campus of the high school, in addition to the library and early college/technology center, will begin after spring break by placing job trailers on the site.  If you remember, Koontz McCombs was responsible for construction of the middle school and gym as well. Hard core construction likely won’t begin for weeks as it takes a great deal to mobilize a project of this magnitude. The project was initially scheduled to be completed in August 2009. That will not occur according to estimates provided by Koontz-McCombs. They are estimating completion by December 2009.  FISD will begin formal design documents for the elementary school beginning the week following spring break. We will also finalize sewage treatment plans. That project has a projected completion date for Fall 2010.
